·        Served on Blue Ribbon Task Force.  This was an advisory committee charged with developing a 5 to 10 year strategic recommendation for the school system.  Served as chair of Facilities subcommittee.  Appointed by former board member Mrs. Frances Edwards.

·        Served on Region 5 Design Team.  Dividing the county into regions so as to provide greater choice options in a smaller geography was a recommendation from the Blue Ribbon Task Force.  This advisory committee made recommendations for school choice within Region 5.  Appointed by former board member Mrs. Frances Edwards.

·        Served on Friends of DeKalb Education III committee.  This committee represented a cross section of citizens across the county.  Its objective was to advocate for the continuation of the third Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST).  I was instrumental in developing the content to help educate the community about the benefits of SPLOST.

·        Provided commentaries for community newspapers on education related issues.  CrossRoadNews provided a special section for me known as “Eye on Education”.

·        Advocated for better communication to the community at large.  As a result, we have seen improvements to the school system's website and now they broadcast school board meetings, both for television and via webcast.  The school system is continuing to make better use of their “robo-call” facility to inform the community of school news and events.
